Executives always need the latest information from experts on organizational subjects that are important to their current job performance. In today’s highly competitive, fast changing environment, keeping up to date in one’s field is critical to remaining relevant and competitive.PBP’s products provide that edge. Product marketing plays a vital role in maintaining that edge.

Internship Experience: To develop one’s skills in research, copywriting with clarity and focus for specific markets, and email and web marketing skills for business executives in a variety of fields. Chance to work with world-class B2B marketing and sales teams developing new online products. Intern will use social networks to connect with leaders and learn about the communities we serve, help develop new sales lead generation campaigns using online tools and email. Help model & implement new approaches to B2B advertising using real time data interpretation and marketing research and analysis

ACCOUNTING INTERN
Education Level: Current undergraduate student (preferably rising Seniors)

Progressive Business Publications seeks students in their junior or senior year who are interested in a career in accounting to join our accounting department for the winter or spring . This is a unique opportunity for a bright, upwardly mobile, creative and analytical person, as our interns get involved in all key aspects of the business. You’ll work side-by-side with A/P, A/R, payroll and bookkeeping professionals who support 9 successful business divisions and 800 employees.

Departmental Duties:

  • Daily Banking (reconciliation of all banking items from all business units)
  • Enter New Employee Hires into MAS-90 (Acctg computer system)
  • Enter New Employee Hires into Newpay (Telemarketing time & attendance system)
  • Enter approved vendor invoices into MAS-90
  • Filing vendor invoices for subsequent payment
  • Filing vendor checks (check copies with paid paperwork)
  • Bank reconciliations for seven (7) bank accounts
  • Preparation of bank reconciliation journal entries
  • Preparation of monthly journal entries (as assigned)
  • Preparation of monthly cash schedules (as assigned)
  • Entering journal entries at month end into MAS-90
  • Assist in the bi-weekly payroll process (as assigned)
  • Other duties as assigned

Skill set:

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Computer applications related to the work (MS Excel, MAS-90)
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
  • Ability to review and verify accuracy of data
  • Making sound, independent judgments within established polices and procedures
  • Organizing own work, setting priorities and meeting critical deadlines
  • Communication to interact effectively with co-workers, managers, sufficient to convey information and to receive work direction.

Our collaborative program for Summer Interns is a valuable and engaged experience, where the intern works, in an office setting, side-by-side with Marketing professionals who train them hands-on in the various aspects of marketing/advertising/copywriting for email and the web, customer and market research, and campaign tracking and analysis. We are currently recruiting for summer interns to work with our senior management to research and develop new business opportunities.

The ideal candidates will be pursuing their MBA’s and have at least 1 year of practical marketing, consulting or editorial experience, who seek a company that is concerned and invested in good corporate citizenship as well as high performance. Experience could include market research, competitive analysis, pricing, web marketing, editorial, sales generation or product delivery. Solid knowledge of b2b marketing (direct marketing, web marketing or telemarketing or demand creation). Experience in a publishing is highly desirable.
